RF Test Engineer-Cambridge, UK

You are younger today than you ever will be again.

Here is a call to change your career…!!!

This is an exciting opportunity for you to be a part of the world of wireless technology by joining the RF & Analogue Systems Group to specify, develop and carry out tests on radio systems developed by the Wireless Division. The role includes both driving and contributing to the test requirements of wireless systems and being able to communicate these effectively to other members of the team. The RF & Analogue Systems Group forms a major part of the Wireless Division and is responsible for delivering both overall wireless system design and radio hardware design to clients of the company. In this role the RF & Analogue Systems Group works very closely with the other disciplinary groups which also exist inside the Wireless Division.

The Wireless Division applies standards-based radio solutions and also develops custom solutions for a wide range of our clients' applications principally in the telecommunications, healthcare, consumer goods and automotive areas. In addition to design services it also develops proprietary intellectual property, which it can licence to its clients. Examples include an implantable medical radio architecture, DECT and Bluetooth reference designs.

The RF Test engineer will work with the design engineers to develop the test equipment and test stations along with the subsequent testing needed to evaluate and prove the RF performance of our products. You will also be responsible to develop test plans based upon top level product requirement specifications and engineering specifications and construct RF test platforms using commercial test equipment and custom fixtures. You will create automatic test programmes using Labview and Matlab or any other convenient programming language and undertake the testing of prototype and development systems.
What we look for in you is a relevant experience of working as an RF test engineer; you will have experience of RF testing and its relevance to ultimate performance.  You will be familiar with RF test equipment such as spectrum & network analysers, signal generators, power meters and be able to construct solutions using RF interconnection blocks such as mixers, filters, splitters etc.

We would also like to hear from you if you are familiar with the language of RF testing such as sensitivity, noise figure, adjacent channel etc and if you are able to write test programmes in Labview, Basic (e.g HPBasic) or similar ATE languages. You will be able to create and present test reports in a logical and accurate manner. A limited understanding and ability in circuit design and some basic proficiency in ‘C’ would be an advantage for this position.

Our client is committed to developing its employees’ careers and has a flexible policy for individual capabilities and preferences. This role is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to demonstrate their value to the organisation.
