About New Discovery

Senior RF Systems Design Consultant-Cambridge, UK

Play an important part in the Wireless Revolution!!

Take a lead design role for development of state of the art wireless systems from specification through to detailed component-level design, and eventual hand-over to volume production.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to be a part of the RF & Analogue Systems Group. This Group forms a major part of the Wireless Division and is responsible for delivering both overall wireless system design and radio hardware design to clients of the company. In this role the Radio Frequency & Analogue Systems Group works very closely with the other disciplinary groups which also exist inside the Wireless Division.

The Wireless Division applies standards-based radio solutions and also develops custom solutions for a wide range of clients' applications principally in the telecommunications, healthcare, medical devices, consumer goods and automotive areas. In addition to design services it also develops proprietary intellectual property, which it can licence to its clients. Examples include an implantable medical radio architecture, DECT and Bluetooth reference designs.
In this role you will participate in sales meetings with clients, in a technical role, and in conjunction with the business developers help to understand client requirements and demonstrate the company’s capability. You will take a lead role in preparing specifications for wireless systems, taking the wider view of the product and application requirements and converting them into real solutions; and prepare and generate the technical sections of bids and tenders for both existing and potential clients. You should be capable of defining the most suitable analogue system design/architecture to meet a specification and take the lead role in the detailed design of wireless and wireless related hardware. You will also act as a design mentor to more junior members of staff and contribute to the disciplinary development of the group. Work as part of a closely-knit, multi-disciplinary project team focused on delivering the design solution to our client and where appropriate prepare and contribute to proposals and quotations. You will also be required to contribute to the maintenance and development of CAD systems to enhance development capability.
Ideally you should have relevant experience working as a radio designer for a company in the telecommunications or other relevant area, you will have extensive and essential experience of both overall system design and RF circuit design and an understanding of the wireless DSP will be considered an advantage (where appropriate, training will be provided). We would also like to hear from you if you have good knowledge of the product development process and a proven record of getting designs right first time with the ability to interact effectively at all levels in a client organization..
